Templeton Farmers Market Report July 12, 2008

More and more summer fruit and vegetables are coming on scene.

Today we got a later start than usual (arriving around ten ) so I thought for sure we'd miss out on a lot of the vegetables and fruit not to mention convenient parking, but we must have timed it just right. We were pleasantly surprised to find no line at the Olde Port Fisheries booth, plenty of all the vegetables and fruit and surprising really convenient parking spaces! And the weather was absolutely perfect!

All the booths were well manned and we saw a little less early Spring vegetables such as squash and strawberries, but more booths were now carrying blueberries, raspberries, plums, apricots, peaches, tomatoes, various kinds of greens and figs. We bought a little bit of everything to try. Since we love fruit we are delighted to see the transition!

All in all it was a wonderful outing and worth the trip! Stop by next week and see the changes!

A tip from Sue!

Know your stove!

Not all stoves are equivalent! Your "medium" may be equivalent to another's "high." For instance, a lot of recipes use the "Medium heat" burner. But that can be too high if your sauteing garlic and don't want it to burn. It's better to err toward the lower setting.
