The Ultimate Garlic Bread

Garlic Bread lovers, this recipe is for you!!! Our version of Garlic Bread is unlike others. First you start with a loaf of French bread, cut it lengthwise, and then cut into pieces without cutting all the way through the crust. Then each section- between and on top of- you spread with butter and garlic that's been thoroughly combined into a thick paste. Then either bake or grill.

This is so good! Itís hard to stop eating it. This is great roasted in the oven or grilled on a BBQ. ĖItís so versatile Ėitís one of our favorites. ©2017, The Ultimate Garlic Bread
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
re-calculate ingredients for:


1 cup Unsalted Butter softened
8 cloves garlic , crushed or minced then mashed into a pulp
1 pound loaf of French bread

Preparation Directions.

1 Preheat the oven to 375F

2 In a mortar and pestle, grind the cloves of garlic to almost liquid form.

3 In a small bowl, whip softened butter.

4 With a spatula, scrap out pulverized garlic into butter bowl. Mix thoroughly.

5 Cut French bread into individual sections (three-fourths of the way down) so that bread does not come apart. With a thin butter knife or spatula, spread butter mixture between sections of bread both sides of each.

6 With remaining butter, spread over top of garlic bread.

7 For ease of cooking, run a thin skewer through the sections of bread lengthwise to prevent separation of sections while roasting in oven or grill.

8 Bake at 375 degrees for 10- 15 minutes. If grilling, grill until brown.

Garlic bread goes well with any rustic tomato sauce dish, or grilled food.

A tip from Sue!

If rushed, prepare your ingredients in advance.

If you know youíll be rushed at cooking time, pre-measure out as many of the ingredients as you can, and arrange them by the cooking order of the recipe.

If itís going to be more than several minutes before you actually start making the dinner, be sure to cover the perishable ingredients with plastic wrap or place in containers and put them back in the refrigerator to hold until you are ready.
